SASL 2026 Week 2 Recap

News Image

Week 2 saw some interesting matchups in the SASL. Potential finals preview in DB vs Assassins, vintage family showdown in the Haques vs the Najimis, and a couple of underdogs looking to upset the status quo. Add in some of the worst weather we’ve seen this Spring, and we were in for a wild weekend.

G1: Hit Squad 11 Bats 7

G2: Hit Squad 18 Bats 6

Another lackluster weekend for the 2-time defending champs as the Bats 3-peat pursuit hasn’t started off great. Once again the team played shorthanded without a chunk of their championship roster and put up a weak showing on both sides of the ball. Bright spot for them has been Adnaan H who has filled in nicely for Nabeel with timely hitting and pitching. For Hit Squad, this was an impressive win despite missing star player Anthony D, the team played solid defense and put together multiple rallies from every part of their lineup.

G1: Mingles 18 OnlyFam 1

G2: Mingles 26 OnlyFam 9

Mingles put opening week behind them with convincing wins over a shorthanded OnlyFams team. With the wind swirling at Seamens Neck, Wahid and Adeel unveiled yet another iteration of the Mingles roster. The additions of Tyler and Kyle were key in the win but the big pickup through two weeks has been the appropriately named Jose Reyes, who looks to be a force. Not a lot to say about OF in this one, they are struggling to field a team that compete with the likes of Mingles but the team has been here before and knows it just takes one or two pickups to get them rolling.

G1: Sensations 18 Heavy Hitterz 15

G2: Heavy Hitterz 24 Sensations 18

Not sure what to make of this split between SS and HH. Sensations played shorthanded both games. Navigating the wind and rain on Newbridge’ open fields is a tall task, and the team was able to overcome to grab their first win of the season. HH also showed some resilience, the team relies heavily on their big four in Ramy, Billal, Kunal S, and Yamin. With Kunal out, the team might as well have been playing shorthanded, with a lot of the lower half of the lineup still not in midseason softball shape. All things considered, both teams should be happy coming away with a win this weekend while doing their best to not repeat the attendance issues as they move forward.

G1: DadBods 11 Assassins 8

G2: Assassins 30 DadBods 14

A little early to call but this looks to be a potential finals preview with familiar foes in Rishi and PK going up against each other for the first time this season. Game 1 was a typical DadBods win as they sprayed the ball all over the field, capitalized on their opponent’s miscues and relied on stellar pitching from PK. G2 was the game that will probably turn some heads. Putting up a 30 spot on any team is quite the accomplishment, against one of the best teams in D3 is unheard of. Assassins offense looks prolific with the addition of Ryan but early on it’s been Thomas who has been getting the shout outs from opposing captains. Both teams play each other again in Week 8 in what should be another fun matchup.
